S8 For Sale - looking for sensible offers. KAW 823
The bike was hardly ridden after a full refurbishment as my father passed away in 1997, it was running fine when parked up then but hasn’t run since. I periodically turn the engine over using the kickstart to prevent it seizing up.
It has been stored in a dry garage since then.

1949 Sunbeam S8. Lovely condition with mild patina. This S8 has a Dating Certificate issued by Stewart Engineering confirming frame number and original engine as fitted by the factory. The bike was restored around 2010 by previous owner, after which he stated he rode the Scottish North Coast 500 with no problems. The bike is fitted with a Craven luggage rack. It also has 6v LED indicators just to make every day riding a little safer in today’s traffic. The indicators can be removed without any drilling marks to the frame. Overall a very nice example. Stored over the winter with Aspen 4 fuel in the tank, carbs. New battery fitted before storage. V5 in my name. £7000.

More pictures can be supplied on request.

Here we have a S7 Deluxe 1950 on the Sunbeam register delivered to Ren’es Islington London on 7th Nov 1950. There is no paperwork, but DVLA have greatly relaxed their regulations and paperwork can now be obtained within approx 6 weeks. A dating certificate can be obtained from Stewart Engineering which will greatly assist this process.. Complete, less silencer, saddle not S7 but looks very similar. It is a project, engine turns over and everything is in good order, just needs restoring to the standard you require. Nothing is rusty nor seized, has been previously dismantled but put back together to demonstrate completeness This therefore will be an easy rebuild for even an amateur enthusiast priced to sell £4250 ovno. I have owned this bike for many years and have come to the realisation that I have too many projects and sadly not enough years! Bike is situated near Bath, Somerset. Please contact Tony on 07954755399.

TOO LATE - SOLD BIKES

1955 Sunbeam S7 De Luxe in Mist Green (489cc)

Registration number UAU 574 (Nottingham) (non-transferable).

Frame number S7 7392. Engine number S8 7655.

Sold with the V5C, R.F.60 (original green log book), two keys, 1970 MOT and tax disc.

UAU 574 was first registered 10th March 1955

UAU has known history back to 1963 when it was owned by Edward Broughton of Nottingham.

Mr C. Hibbett owned it in 1969 and then my uncle, Mr Keith George Bamford in 1970.

It came to him as a project for restoration for his retirement and started work on it in the mid-1980s and worked on it for many years.

The work was completed in the late 1990's to the high level you can see today.

Sadly my uncles passed away shortly afterwards before any real used could be had.

I inherited the Sunbeam in his will and my name is and has been for many years on the V5C.

As long as I have owned her, she has hardly been ridden.

It is with sadness that I am letting her go to someone that will use her and get the joy my uncle never could.

The Sunbeam is as original as she can be still using points/condenser.

All tinware is steel except the toolbox, this is fibreglass.

The only mods fitted are solid state voltage regulator, 6 v gel battery and a new AMAL 600 carburettor as the original would not stop leaking.

All of this work is quite recent in order to get the bike running to sell.

With the right knack, the bike starts well and ticks over lovely as you can see in the 7 videos I have to show.

I have only ridden her for short distances many years ago and more recently up and down the 10 foot behind my garage, again as you can see from the videos and no issues are evident.

Because of the length of time the bike has been laid up, the bike will be sold as seen.

I have provided as much information as i can to help you in making your decision, so please be certain that this is the bike for you.

To own a piece of 1950's British Motorcycling History and a make/model that is still desirable today

The sale price is £6,500.00, but I am open to a reasonable offer.

Please make contact via email at neil1927nh@gmail.com,

or by mobile: 07794 923 939

If I am contacted via WhatsApp, or email, then I can forward 7 videos of the bike being ridden, taken on 27th July 2025

SOLD OMU 683 £4,375.00
Sunbeam S8 500cc 1950.
This motorcycle was languishing in a garden for 45 years and half buried with a bay tree growing through it !
Agreed on a price then managed to remove it from what was thought was its last reasting place.
Obviously it didn't run, in fact nothing worked, even the rear drive was seized and so were the brakes, controls, choke and throttle and a heap more yet to be discovered.
Two years and a lot of time and money it was up and running, not to shabby for a 75 year old.
Here is what was done.
Total rebuild, engine, gearbox, clutch, electrics, frame and suspension, nothing was left untouched, if it needed replacing or attention it was done,
It has new piston rings, (standard bore) all the valves have been recut, bigends, brakes, clutch including springs.
Rear drive fully rebuilt, front forks fully rebuilt including stainless seal holders.
Ignition (Distibutor) rebuilt including new points and condensor, runs Stewart Engineering ignition unit, also converted to positive earth 12 volt electrics, including its original ammeter and ignition switch.
Fully rewired, Horn rebuilt, new bulbs etc.
Painted, lacqured the whole machine.
The bike retains it's original handlebars and controls even the dip/main/horn button switch was rebuild and is now working.
Original horn, flat glass, headlamp and rim, the original glass are rare as hen's teeth and cost a fortune it you can find one !
The blue tank badges (enamel) are original and not copies from India.
Stainless steel downpipes, silencer, fuel taps, tank cap, seat springs, mudguards etc are all original as are the footrest rubbers.
New saddle cover, new tyres, tubes and tapes, the tyres are a slightly wider section than standard which fill the mudguards a lot better than the original sizes, front 4.00, rear 4.50, air filter, carb rebuilt, new handlebar grips.
Super rare luggage rack, only ever seen one before, (Genuine Sunbeam) and you don't want to know the price ?
Loads of stainless bolts, all the heads have been polished and writing removed.
Paintwork is pretty good, although the top of the tank has gone a bit crazy paving, although it was a bit annoying as i had to re lacquer with petrol proof coating and years later in the hot ? weather it happened, personally I rather like it as it is adds to the charm to the overall look.
Yes every thing works, even the idiot lights in the headlamp.
Gears, clutch, rides really well.
Contary to popular belief these bikes are very easy to work on and are made of real steel unlike it's counterparts of the same era, if it were a lesser bike it would have rotted years ago, testament of the build and materials used, leave a modern bike in the dirt for 45 years and I'm sure there won't be much left to salvage !
Nippy little bike that has a fair turn of speed which suprised me after reading how slow and ponderous they were, nothing could be further from the truth.
4202 genuine miles, have a look at the last picture, this is when it was rescued from the garden.
One owner from new.
V5 present.
This is a very usable motorcycle, not a show queen or a museum piece and a pleasure to ride and handles superbly and dead comfy, Historic, tax and mot Exempt, ULEZ Compliant.
Need to chat, call Ed. on 07884346699

SOLD

V5 in my name, original buff log book and some old MOTs with the bike.

The bike will definitely benefit from more use and fettling but is a sound original bike with some provenance. Ready for a new owner with time and space - I already have two many bikes!  The bike is near Melton Mowbray. Happy to answer any questions you might have and can arrange a courier in UK if needed.

Lovely 1951 Sunbeam S7 DeLuxe - SOLD

A very well presented and highly original example of the Sunbeam S7 Deluxe, first registered in March 1951. It has historic vehicle status and is therefore exempt from vehicle tax and MoT. It was fully restored by Stewart Engineering in 1985 and has been recently recommissioned, including overhaul of electrical system, by Foxwood Motorcycle R&R. The paintwork is in very good condition with some light patina on the chrome, which hints at its classic status. The bike handles nicely and performs well on the road which, together with its relaxed and comfortable riding position, will provide an enjoyable way of exploring the countryside.

The bike is currently located in Hampshire, near Farnham, where it is available for viewing. Further information and photographs etc can be forwarded, if interested. Please call 0161 434 3053 or e-mail dominic.sagar@outlook.com

SOLD - Original paint "Time Machine" Sunbeam S8 - SOLD

Wonderful original condition.

We purchased this S8 from the daughter and son-in law of Mr Badwick who worked for the Welsh Steel Company and purchased it new in 1950, so we are the second owner. The bike had been dismantled in about 1954 and put into dry storage in Wales until he passed away. The daughter didn't even know about it. We assembled the bike, and it is now on the road and taxed.

The bike is an extremly rare original grey paint Sunbeam S8. The bike has light surface rust all over but all the metalwork is sound.

The engine has been checked and new seals and a 600 carb fitted.

We fitted a new single saddle as the original dual seat was not in good condition.

SOLD as seen £3600

Sunbeam S8 1950  - SOLD

£4,400

I’ve owned and ridden this bike for over 25 years but unfortunately it is now is too heavy for me. This is one of the most genuine original Sunbeams you will find; it still runs reliably on the original 6-volt dynamo and distributor ignition system. It is fitted with all the original cycle parts including the correct levers and switches, accessories, horn, lights etc and a period sprung pillion seat. The black paintwork is all very good including the original steel mudguards. The engine has the desirable high compression pistons and rare strengthened valve cover.

The bike has been regularly seen at SOF events and is an increasingly rare original Registration, frame and engine number bike complete with all documentation and manuals etc. Located in Hants but can deliver up to about 75 miles. Realistically priced at £4,400. Phone 07979 285942.

SUNBEAM UNFINISHED PROJECT SOLD  Price £4,000

The bike is a 1951 sunbeam S7 deluxe 6v I did see the bike running 20 odd years ago before it was parked (I know it doesn't count for much now) I acquired it when my uncle passed on, and I started restoring it but due to divorce and loosing my garage I would be best off letting it go.

So far I Have rebuilt the forks with new bushes, seals, seal holders and had the stanchions re-chromed, the brightwork within the forks are new parts as well, the headstock bearings are now the sealed units. I have fitted new stainless inner shrouds for the rear springs and had the outer ones powder coated, then re-greased the springs and put new felt washers in. The wheel bearings were checked cleaned and re greased. I had the front hub and rear drive media blasted and replaced the seals in the rear drive. All the Black parts are powder coated (frame, wheels, kickstand, engine mount hardware, brake pedal etc) the bodywork has been painted ludlow green (I was told it was a good match for the original colour) I also have a new wiring loom and exhaust nuts for it. All parts except the wiring loom and exhaust nuts were purchased through stewart engineering. I have not done anything with the engine or gearbox yet other than drain the gearbox oil but the engine does rotate freely. I have a spare dynamo and there is a box with spare engine, gearbox and rear drive casings a spare frame as well as other parts. The parts I know are missing from the bike are the air cleaner and cover, the toolbox and the tank badges.

I will attach pictures - one is the condition when I got it

SOLD SUNBEAM S8:

I've found the photos of my S8, l have a complete SunbeamS8, and lots of spares for the S8 and S7. I have a bike frame, and engine parts, battery & electric boxes, mudguards, all are metal parts.

I would like £4000.00, for everything Sunbeam. Many thanks Dave Cox.

 Very Scarce - 1947 Sunbeam S7 - Price £7,500 - SOLD

An early Sunbeam S7, this is the one made prior to the deluxe – few around. Although they look similar, there are a lot of differences between these bikes and the later deluxe S7.

I have owned the bike a few years but having a clear out and as I have another – so this one is to be sold. I bought it mainly as a guide for the rebuild of my other S7.

This has matching Frame, Engine and gearbox numbers. UK registered but a non-transferrable mark, this came through a dealer in 2017 and I think he sold the original registration

The bike is complete and runs well, very easy to start. I have a short video of this available on request – unless I can post it here. It is a clean bike, not pristine but usable. Still has a 6v system, but everything works.

There are bits that require attention:

  • Tank badges should be blue
  • Speedo should be 80 mph
  • Toolbox is fibre glass – but mudguards and battery boxes are steel.
  • There is a broken fin – a lot of Sunbeams have this, there is a head bolt everyone misses when taking the head off!

Good stuff, it has correct inverted leavers and internal throttle, and the sought after ‘twist dip’. Fuel tank has the rare screw cap. Engine seems pretty oil tight, it has the additional sump plate for added oil capacity, and the original 276 carb.

It has the later cam chain tensioner on it, don’t think the early spring tensioners worked very well. It also has the later dynamo – the early ones had a short dynamo, but not many of these around now.

This is a good usable bike, if you need to get it totally original you can do this as a rolling restoration. I think I have priced it with this in mind.

Bike is in Scotland, Brechin area – collection only but I can help with local delivery if required.
